| The Legendary Jim Ruiz Group’s second album “Sniff”, released in 1998, is a unique and lovely produced album. Songwriter Jim Ruiz has brought a joyful, stylish and intimate sounding mix of pop, jazzy tunes, bossa nova, disco, latin rhythms and 60’s pop. This loungy piece of pop perfection took three years in the making and were made with a lot of guest musicians, including The Shoestrings and Katerine. For fans of 60’s soft pop, Louis Philippe, Jonathan Richman and Eggstone. Tracklist: “Last Time”, “Last Summer”, “Bigfoot”, “Baby Where Art Thou?”, “Until I Met You”, “Katerine”, “Uncle Wieney”, “Goodbye To All That”, “Without You, Gurl”, “My Foolish Heart”, “Bigfoot (I Remember Wes)”, “Sound Of Music”, “Bobby Stinson´S Guitar” and “Something Strange Happens”. | This edition of Cloudberry’s split series features two mysterious and excellent bands. The Librarians is a group from England that happens sometimes. They come and go like a comet in the night sky, sometimes unnoticed. They never play live for political reasons. Girl Alliance is a band from Lund, Sweden. Actually it’s just one guy. He writes and records songs in his bedroom when he can’t sleep. Great! Tracklist: The Librarians “Nothing Much To Say” and “This Grey Reality”. |
| After last year’s debut success with “Stalking Skills” - and a frequent gigging around in Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Germany and United Kingdom - Liechtenstein is finally back with a new 7” single! The title track “Apathy”, which offers a contemplation of an alternative reality, is built upon plenty of beautifully arranged vocal harmonies and proves once again that between a sweet sounding pop song and a protest emerges a sparkling assembly. On the flipside you’ll find the dymanic and stirring “Security By Design” where Liechtenstein this time has brightened the sound with a slightly Mexican sounding trumpet, almost like it was cut out from a Californian masterpiece anno 1968. Included is a code that allows you to download the songs in mp3 format. Tracklist: “Apathy” and “Security By Design”. |

| 3 track CDR from Sweden’s Liechtenstein. If you liked the two previous singles on our own Fraction Discs label you will surely not be disappointed by these three previously unreleased songs! This CDR is released on newly started Göteborg label Drill Building. The title track – a rapid, talulah gosh-ish song with enchanting vocal harmonies – surely ought to be a hit soon. Second track, the almost shoegazy “The End Of The World”, demonstrates how Liechtenstein constantly expand their sound. The closing song, “Low Sugar Low Fat”, is an early Liechtenstein song. A 48 seconds sour-sweet punk number with a trumpet topped ending. Tracklist: “Everything´s For Sale”, “The End Of The World” and “Low Sugar Low Fat”. Highly recommended! |

| Passion For Water |
Fraction Discs
| A whole year has passed since their last record release (the debut album “Survival Strategies In A Modern World”), but now Liechtenstein are back! During this year the girls have, among other things, visited the US East Coast for a tour, travelled around in Europe (including a show in Vaduz, Liechtenstein!), and a new bass player - Ulrika Mild from synthpop band Compute - has joined the band. The new single “Passion For Water”, the fifth one from Liechtenstein, displays a somewhat new sound. The patented vocal harmonies are of course still present, as well as the feel for making fantastic pop melodies, but the sound is clearer, and the melodies more summery and groovy.
The jangly title track is probably the most dancy Liechtenstein song so far, and it brings to mind an imaginary eighties British beach party, where Mighty Mighty, The Siddeleys, The Desert Wolves and The Man From Delmonte have been mixed into a cooling pop cocktail. With the trumpet raising “Passion For Water” to new heights, and the careful arrangements and beautiful vocal harmonies reminiscent of Dolly Mixture on “Spending Time With You”, this is a Liechtenstein partly searching for new directions. However, the earlier post punk influences are not forgotten but represented by the finishing, short and punk-oriented “On The Tram”. The single contains a download code for the mp3 files of the songs, as well as a music video for the song “On The Tram”. Tracklist: “Passion For Water”, “Spending Time With You” and “On The Tram”. |

| Liechtenstein is about to become the band that every indie kid’s younger sister wishes she had started. Making a splash on the international indie pop scene with two attentiongrabbing singles, 2007’s “Stalking Skills” and last year’s “Apathy”, the Swedish trio of Renée, Naemi, and Elin will make waves with their unique take on the girl-group post-punk sound of early ’80s groups like The Au Pairs and Kleenex. Fraction Discs is thrilled to team up with the excellent US label, Slumberland, to bring their subversive pop to a larger audience in the form of their new mini-LP, “Survival Strategies In A Modern World”. With the nine-song “Survival Strategies In A Modern World”, Liechtenstein not only delivers the spooky harmonies and loping basslines that earned their singles such critical attention, but they also stretch out into realms only hinted at before. The band not only gives Love Is All a run for their money in the Swedish post-punk revival department, but they can also fit right in alongside Slumberland labelmates The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart (not to mention “lost” bands of the C-86 era like Swiss buzzsaw-pop girl-group Chin Chin) in delivering manic pop thrills. Clocking in alongside the post-punk flavour of lead track “All At Once” and “White Dress”, for example, comes the bubblegum sugar rush of “Roses In The Park.” Liechtenstein also has more than angular post-punk tricks up their sleeve; they channel the naïve-yet-proper Oxford charm of Talulah Gosh or The Carousel on songs like “Postcard” and “The End”. Mixing its ’80s influences with a very fresh and contemporary enthusiasm, “Survival Strategies In A Modern World” packs so much excitement into less than 23 minutes that you will discover a new favorite song with every spin. At least, that is, until your sister sneaks into your room, snatches it (along with your Vivian Girls records and rare Mo-Dettes singles), and takes her own shot at indie stardom. Better buy two.. Tracklist: “All At Once”, “Postcard”, “Sophistication”, “By Staying Here (We Will Slowly Disappear)”, “Wallpaper Stripes”, “Roses In The Park”, “Reflections”, “White Dress” and “The End”. |

| From seemingly out of nowhere, Love is All turned up everywhere after their release of “Nine Times That Same Song” and then, impossibly, disappeared to the fate of hype, broken promises and seething expectations. The new album harnesses the same raw energy and music which captured our hearts, but this time magnifies it through the complex emotions and experiences the band has struggled with. | Two Thousand And Ten Injuries |
Polyvinyl
| “Two Thousand And Ten Injuries” is an eclectic collection of pop melodies, anchored by New Wave and punk rock rhythms, that are as refined as they are unpredictable. Highlights of the 12 track set include the art punk urgency of “Bigger, Bolder”, the lilting pop of “Never Now”, the Slits-like reggae of “False Pretense” and the classic New Wave rallying cry found in “Dust”. “Two Thousand And Ten Injuries” was produced, recorded and mixed at the band’s home studio, Bananaflux, during the summer of 2009 by Love Is All and Wyatt Cusick (The Aislers Set, Trackstar). All told, “Two Thousand And Ten Injuries” successfully manages to be Love Is All’s most adventurous, and dare we say, accessible, album yet. Tracklist: “Bigger Bolder”, “Repetition”, “Never Now”, “Less Than Thrilled”, “Early Warnings”, “False Pretense”, “The Birds Were Singing With All Their Might”, “Again, Again”, “Kungen”, “A Side In A Bed”, “Dust” and “Take Your Time”. |

| Impressive follow-up to last year’s “Everybody Hates Lovejoy” album featuring four great new songs. Lead track “Brightness Falls” is perhaps the finest Lovejoy song to date, mixing keyboards and jangling guitars in a twinkling pop hit with ace vocals from Lovejoy supremo Richard Preece. If we lived in a just universe this would be blasting from car stereos all summer long in place of the latest inane hip hop flavor-of-the-week. “Are You Analogue Or Digital?” sports a bit of the pesky electronica that first showed its face on the popular “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?” set and also rather nicely recalls the sparkling pop of The Human League, while “In The Rain” is a lusciously paced and mesmerizing cover of the mid-80s indie hit from The June Brides. “Made In England” closes the EP in top form, layering guitars, strings and percussion alongside a rhythmic vocal track with angelic backing—a return of sorts to the chiming orchestral pop of Lovejoy’s debut album “Songs In The Key of Lovejoy”.‘ Hurrah! Tracklist: “Brightness Falls”, “Are You Analogue Or Digital?”, “In The Rain” and “Made In England”. |

Songs I Wish I Had Written
| Beloved in Japan for the happy melodies and melodramatic lyrics. Beloved in England for not being perfect. Beloved in USA, Sweden and the rest of the world for being brilliant songwriters and playing pop music in an eccentric but at the same time very straight forward way. The Lovekevins live and work in Malmö, southern Sweden. Tracklist: “Max Léon”, “Soviet.se”, “The Big Nono” and “Blame The English”. |

| A Good Kind Of Nervous |
Lost & Lonesome
| Lost And Lonesome reissue of The Lucksmiths’ classic album ”A Good Kind Of Nervous”, originally released on Candle records in 1997. This excellent album pretty much made these Australian popsmiths to the international indiepop darlings they are today. Eleven bouncy, upbeat and infectious pop songs with smart lyrics. Tracklist: “Caravanna”, “Under The Rotunda”, “Train Robbers’ Wives”, “World Encyclopedia Of Twentieth Century Murder”, “The Invention Of Ordinary Everyday Things”, “Punchlines”, “Guess How Much I Love You”, “Columns O’ Steam”, “Up”, “Wyoming” and “Little Athletics”. Highly recommended! |

| A Hiccup In Your Happiness |
Matinée
| Glorious second single lifted from recent album “Warmer Corners” plus three exclusive new tracks validate yet again why The Lucksmiths are among the most popular indie bands of our time. One listen to “A Hiccup In Your Happiness” and you know it’s apt to be blasted from car stereos and iPods all day long. Boasting strings, horns, some seriously funky guitar and a bassline possibly borrowed from Orange Juice, the song is a dancefloor sizzler that just had to be a single. Its magnificent b-sides are all set in actual places: “From Macaulay Station” is an ode to one of the unlovelier stops on Melbourne’s rail network, “Rue Something” a more-or-less factual account of an evening spent on tour in Paris, and “To Absent Votes” a tale of election night in the Australian outback town of Lake Cargelligo. Combined with ‘”A Hiccup In Your Happiness” they create a brilliant EP designed to give ”Warmer Corners” another shot at the glory it deserves. |
