Reminiscent of early dream pop and shoegaze, The Year Zero weaves together layerings of guitars and keyboards to create futuristic dream pop soundscapes. Singer Lili de la Mora's (Sidecar) lullaby sighs lilt and sway over shimmering guitars and keyboards. Rodney Sellars (Sense Field) steps in to hold it down vocally, or maybe just to catch the view from above. Upbeat tempos ride along a swath of melodies swept by solar winds, invoking early Lush, Cocteau Twins and Slowdive. Tracklist: “Stranger”, “Some Great Majestic”, “Moonviewing Parties”, “The Truth About Stars”, “Skyway Racer”, “Lost In A World”, “Anthem”, “Phoenix”, “Holland, Say Hello”, “Dreamers Under The Stars”, “Oceania, I Will Return” and “Anthem (Remix)”.

Remarkable debut single by The Young Tradition. These three tracks are the result of songs made by Brent Kenji (The Fairways, Skypark) and Swedish Erik Hanspers during a recording session where they never actually met, instead they traded tapes across the Atlantic Ocean. Excellent produced pop songs for fans of The Fairways, Belle & Sebastian, The Ladybug Transistor, The Beach Boys “Pet Sounds” and 60’s sunshine pop. Includes a fine cover of Poundsign’s “Isolation”.

Yes! The debut album from The Young Tradition is here! Anyone who’ve fancied the ace debut single “California Morning” won’t be dissapointed by “Northern Drive”! The duo of Swedish multi-instrumentalist Erik Hanspers and Japanese-American vocalist Brent Kenji (formerly of The Fairways and Skypark) brings one old favourite and nine new ones on this album of excellent songwriting and orchestration. Full of jangly guitars, trumpet, flute, cello and keybords, lovely layered in a production that brings to mind the luxurious ones of the A&M label in the late 60’s. This is a wonderful collection of timeless pop melodies that overrides any trends of today with echoes of The Beach Boys, The Byrds, 60’s soft rock, Swedish folk-jazz wonder Jan Johansson, Eggstone, The Fairways and Belle & Sebastian. Highly recommended!
